Join us at the Historic Turnage Theatre for a special free screening of Hidden Figures, the inspiring true story of the brilliant Black female mathematicians at NASA whose work was crucial to the Space Race. Set in the 1960s, the film highlights extraordinary talent, perseverance, and courage in the face of racial and gender discrimination—and celebrates the power of community, education, and determination.
Ernestine McIver Wright
This evening also honors one of Washington’s own: Ernestine McIver Wright, a real-life “Hidden Figure.” Ernestine was a human computer for NACA (later NASA) in the 1950s, renowned for her exceptional mathematical skills and quiet impact on American history.
