Weeks of Mar. 2 & 9, 2026

Youth events are blooming at AOP! A Time for Science brings Beyond the Blue and their planetarium to the stage at 4 PM on Friday, March 13, followed by the opening reception of a month’s long annual exhibit of Beaufort County Schools youth art with support from Beaufort County Administration and Beaufort County Schools. On Friday, March 27 at 6:30 PM Pepito and the Trash Cans will be on stage thanks to a Grassroots Grant from the NC Arts Council (note afternoon show scheduled for March 27 has been moved to September 2026).  The show tickets are $5 per person, concessions will be open for this bilingual story and music-telling show.

Youth Spring Camps are happening both indoors and outdoors at the Historic Turnage Theatre this year. AOP in partnership with the Pamlico Rose Institute’s Wellness AmeriCorps Team  is excited to offer a free Youth Art & Garden Camp for grades 3 & up designed especially for homeschool students while public schools are in session. This half-day afternoon camp is being led by Lisa Hodges, Artist & Master Gardner, scheduled to support homeschool youth exploring creative artmaking and hands-on gardening in small outdoor spaces. Campers will learn the basics of container gardening, including herbs, native plants, pollinators, and select vegetables, while also creating outdoor mosaics and garden art to take home—or help install in the Turnage Theatre’s new Public Art & Wellness Garden. The camp time is 1 – 4:30 with pick up no later than 5 PM either Monday, March 30 – Thursday, April 2 (https://www.artsofthepamlico.org/events/youth-art-garden-camp) and Monday, April  6 – Friday, April 10, 2026 (https://www.artsofthepamlico.org/events/youth-art-garden-camp-xab5n). Space is filling up and is limited so send in your registration today!

For the adults in our community, check out an evening of improv comedy with New Bern’s A Walk in the Bathtub in the Turnage Gallery on Saturday March 14.  On Monday, March 16, AOP kicks off a Gallery Music Series. Join us for an intimate Evening of Jazz with Quincy Jones and Friends at the Historic Turnage Theatre. This special Gallery Music Series performance brings the warmth, spontaneity, and sophistication of live jazz into a relaxed, up-close setting designed for true listening and connection. A versatile pianist, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, Quincy Jones is known across Eastern North Carolina for his ability to move effortlessly between Great American Songbook jazz standards, soulful originals, and genre-blending influences rooted in jazz, funk, R&B, and pop. Joined by fellow musicians, this evening promises rich melodies, dynamic collaboration, and the kind of musical chemistry that makes live jazz unforgettable. Tickets are $10. Concessions will be available for purchase.

And on March 20, AOP’s Annual Gala – 100 Years & More! will fill the theatre. The event was postponed due to weather. Don’t miss this amazing time to support the arts!
