Local Artists, Art Groups & Schools Receive State Arts Funding
The Arts of the Pamlico is the state-designated arts council for Beaufort County, in North Carolina. In support of accessible arts in Beaufort County, AOP receives a small annual grant from the North Carolina Arts Council based on the County’s population size, which is matched dollar for dollar by funds raised locally to support artists and arts organizations sharing their art in Beaufort County.
Artists and arts groups are benefiting from these Grassroots Grant funds to support their art and increase access to the arts in Beaufort County. The distribution of the first round of grants kicks off support for programs and performances coming to the Turnage to benefit our community.
Beaufort County Choral Society’s grant will support their Director who will lead their Community Messiah on Sunday, December 14 the Turnage.
Beaufort County Community Orchestra’s grant will support their concert on Sunday November 16.
Alternative Stage’s grant will support its spring 2026 play “Love, Sex, and the I.R.S.,” – described as “across between ‘I Love Lucy’ and ‘Some Like it Hot.’
P.S. Jones Middle School youth will benefit from a grant for performances and professional development for teachers by nationally acclaimed Puppeteer Hobey Ford in January 2026.
Monthly artist workshops by award winning artists including Lynn Mehta, Catherine Walker Bailey and more beginning in January 2026 will be supported by grant funds.
Artist Awards for the Annual Photography Show in February 2026 will be given with this support. Pamlico River Pottery Guild’s grant will support their 3rd Annual Pottery Fest at the Turnage in February 2026.
Beaufort County Traditional Music Association’s grant will support a youth string band performance on the Turnage stage in early 2026.
Second Verse & Pamlico Writers Group are teaming up to use grant funding to support events during Poetry Month, April 2026.
