Weeks of March 30 & April 6, 2026

A special music series is kicked off this week at the Historic Turnage Theatre in the Turnage Gallery with Quincy Jones & Friends. On March 30 a crowd gathered for Motown, to be followed on April 20 with blues, rock & reggae and jazz on May 11 (rescheduled due to weather from March 16), A versatile pianist, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, Quincy Jones is known across Eastern North Carolina for his ability to move effortlessly between Great American Songbook jazz standards, soulful originals, and genre-blending influences All shows start at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $10 online or at the theatre. Concessions will be available for purchase.

In April, the free Thursday Matinee in April  is the 1948 version of Under the California Stars. Join us at 3 PM for popcorn and a movie! 

A set of four 2026 Art Walks begin in downtown Washington on Friday, April 10. Musician Jeff Boenig will be playing guitar during Art Walk. On the same evening, a Second Verse poetry workshop – Paint the Poem will take place.  

On Saturday, April 11, AOP’s first Cowboy Ramble, Run & Rhythm supported by Onslow Stoneworks, the City of Washington, Beaufort County and Washington Tourism Development Authority will offer a free an all-day music, movie event plus a 5K ramble or run! Emerging Nasheville star, Michael Schott will take the stage with his bandVisit artsofthepamlico.org to learn more and register for events. 

Plan to find the creative you as part of a new Learning Collective at AOP. The series begins on April 15 led by AOP Board member Amanda Monath. The first series, Art, Mystery and Romance: The Sabine Trilogy with Dr. Philip Niban, begins on April 15 with each meeting held from 1:30 – 2:30 PM at the Turnage.
