Weeks of June 22 & 29, 2026
Welcome summer!
Arts of the Pamlico (AOP) free summer art camps for kids who live in Beaufort County kicked off on June 15 with a visual arts camp with instructor Laura Frye and a beginning performing arts camp for 3rd – 5th graders led by AOP’s Ethan Wolf. Performing arts campers are working together over a two-week period and perform Disney’s The Aristocats KIDS! on stage at the Turnage on Saturday, June 27 at 4 PM and Sunday, June 28 at 4 PM as the culmination of camp. Many thanks to Anonymous Trust and Beaufort County Concert Association for their support. Tickets are available @ artsofthepamlico.org, then click on Events to buy tickets for a performance or two! Free summer camps continue with stagecraft, advance performing arts, mural and music camps. Breakfast and lunch are provided for all youth attending thanks to the Summer Feeding Program in partnership with Beaufort County Schools. Youth programs are provided to Beaufort County kids at no cost and are supported by donations and grants. Consider supporting art programs for our community’s youth with a donation tooday that will help us match a challenge grant just awarded by Anonymous Trust. Donate online at https://www.artsofthepamlico.org/donate and add a note that your donation is for Youth Program. Thank you!
On the walls this summer, bright colors and intriguing faces fill both Galleries. View and shop the art of Dion Burroughs and Kendrick Holiday through July. In August, Denise Parry’s artwork will fill the Gallery. View and buy local art from the exhibits and in the onsite Makers Gallery.
AOP’s Tuesday Painters take over the Gallery with colors galore each week from 9:30 – 12 Noon with painters of all levels creating together. Bring your painting tools and materials and join in the fun. Watch for details about a mid-September workshop coming soon!
On June 23, AOP’s Pamlico Writers Group meets for a critique session at 7 PM. Dust off your writings and join the group.
Each week music fills the Turnage all summer with jams on Thursday eves and Saturday morning by AOP’s Beaufort County Traditional Music Association. On Wednesday, June 24, Girly Pop Karaoke will fill the air in the Gallery beginning at 6 PM. Both music events are free with donations appreciated. Closing out the music this month is Quincy Jones & Friends. Quincy returns to the Turnage Gallery on Monday, June 29 at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $10. Concessions will be open during Karaoke and Quincy’s show.
