Workshop- Write Out Loud: How to Write for Poetry Slam
Led by LeJuane “El’Ja” Bowens, Director of SERNC Poetry Slam, this hands-on workshop is designed to help poets craft stage-ready slam poetry. Participants will work through guided prompts while exploring voice, rhythm, pacing, storytelling, and performance techniques that transform personal stories into powerful live performances.
Whether you’re new to slam or looking to refine your delivery, this workshop offers practical tools and supportive feedback to help your writing come alive on stage.

Join us for a special backstage edition of 2nd Verse, our monthly spoken word open mic, as we celebrate Women’s History Month and Youth Art Month. This evening honors the voices, stories, and contributions of women while uplifting youth creativity through poetry, storytelling, and spoken word.
Artists and audience members alike are invited to gather in an intimate setting that encourages connection, expression, and community support.
Entry: $5 or a donation of a toy for a local women’s shelter
