Alice Hubbard Stallings

Alice Hubbard Stallings, originally from Norfolk, Virginia, made Washington, North Carolina her home with husband T. Franklin Stallings. A dedicated artist, she studied at East Carolina University and explored a wide range of media throughout her life.

Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including a 2018 retrospective at Arts of the Pamlico celebrating her creative legacy. Beyond her art, Alice was a driving force in the local arts scene—she co-founded the Beaufort County Arts Council in 1972, which later became Arts of the Pamlico.

This exhibition proudly bears her name in tribute to her lifelong contributions to the arts and through the generous support of her family.

Art Work Submission Guidelines

Eligibility: Open to artists 18 and older, with a special focus on those from North Carolina. Only original works created within the last two years that have not been previously exhibited with Arts of the Pamlico will be accepted.

  • 2-D Artwork

    • Max size: 36" x 36" (including frame)

  • 3-D Artwork

    • Must not exceed 36" in any dimension

    • Must weigh under 50 lbs

    • Must sit securely on a flat surface or be ready to hang

Entry Fee: Non-Refundable fee of $50 per artist for up to 2 submissions

  • All work must be hang-ready with wire No sawtooth or clip mounts accepted. Fragile work must be framed under plexiglass or glass.

  • AOP and/or the juror reserve the right to eliminate any artwork that does not meet the stated guidelines prior to the exhibition opening. AOP also reserves the right to refuse any work deemed unacceptable for display.

  • All submitted artwork must be available for sale and competitively priced through January 30, 2026—no exceptions. A 30% commission will be retained on all sales & applicable NC sales tax will be deducted.

  • Submission of work to this juried exhibition constitutes agreement to all terms and conditions outlined in this prospectus.

  • While all artwork will be handled with care, AOP does not assume responsibility for insuring any works of art while in its possession.

Meet the Juror

Lynn Mehta is a Virginia-based, award-winning oil painter known for her expressive, textured style that blends abstraction and representation.

A lifelong artist inspired by her mother, she holds a B.A. in Art from San Diego State University and has trained with renowned artists in the U.S. and abroad.

She is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society and the American Society of Marine Artists. Her work is held in collections including the Maryhill Museum of Art, the National Institutes of Health, and Acadia National Park.
