Get Ready for a New Season of Arts & Culture @ the Historic Turnage Theatre
On September 3, the Arts of the Pamlico (AOP) celebrated the kickoff of the 2025/2026 arts & culture season with a diverse and vibrant group of arts and culture partners from across the county. Our deep bench of partners includes artists, painters, potters, historians, actors, directors, producers, musicians, podcasters, singers, dancers, funders, writers, poets, small & big business partners, government officials, construction crew members, contractors, staff, and board members. Together, we shared freshly made appetizers by O&T Creations and the company of a vibrant group of amazing creatives.
The season at the Turnage kicks off with Pat Carlson’s textile exhibit, followed by a continuation of films on the big screen, plus a free benefit blues concert to support the restoration of the Turnage marquee. This fall, outdoor public art and a new offering for artrepreneurs and small business owners will be available at the Turnage, in partnership with the Pamlico Rose Institute’s AmeriCorps project and Beaufort County Community College’s Small Business Center, offering one-on-one appointments at the Turnage.
Dancing and music continue throughout the year with USA Dance, Le Moulin Rouge de Danse, and Solina Dance. Enjoy music with karaoke each month; watch for tickets to our spring blues & crooner events. In October, stop by and take in the Art Walk and the Dancing Through Time mural. Listen in for the reboot of the BoCo Town Podcast, which will kick off Culture Talks as part of AOP’s collaborative Hispanic Heritage Celebration.
As the temperatures turn chilly, Alternative Stage is on deck with its spooky film festival in October, leading into the Alice H. Stallings 61st Fine Arts Show opening on November 14. Facility renters, Beaufort County Concert Assoc., will continue their series into the spring. AOP is also partnering with groups in Greenville and New Bern to share their music and craft this year. 2025 will close with a jam-packed holiday season, featuring kids’ programs, the Holiday Homes Tour, concerts, and events. There's something for everyone, and we look forward to sharing these experiences with you
2026 will feature the return of AOP’s fabulous Gala at the end of January – start shopping for your outfit to begin celebrating more than 100 years of arts at the Turnage. The kids will welcome in the new year with a production by AOP’s Youth Performing Arts Camp, followed by the return of the Wildlife & Waterways Festival in February. A call for art will be released soon, accompanied by an artist workshop featuring award-winning artist Lynn Mehta.
Spring and summer youth camps are being planned now and will run through August 2026. And in May, get your white outfit in place for the 2nd Annual Champagne & Starlight and dust off your brushes and easels for a Plein Air event at Pamlico Plantation.
So much is happening at AOP. If you’d like to be part of the happenings, join us for one of the next AOP Volunteer Tour & Orientation sessions: September 10, 12:30 – 1:30 PM or September 11, 6:00 – 7:00 PM. Email volunteer@artsofthepamlico.org to save your space.
